Adobe Photoshop 2022 (Version 23.2) Activation [Mac/Win] [2022-Latest]

Lightroom and Photoshop are used interchangeably, so some of the steps in this chapter will work equally well in Lightroom.

In the programs described in this chapter, the “Window” menu option refers to the windows shown in Figure 1-1.

**Figure 1-1:** The Windows menu is at the top of your screen.

Photoshop’s three most important windows are the Content (most often shown in Figure 1-2), Layers (also shown in Figure 1-2), and History (shown in Figure 1-3) windows.

**Figure 1-2:** The most commonly used Photoshop windows, along with their default names and location.

**Figure 1-3:** The _History_ window shows the step-by-step editing process your Photoshop image has gone through.

See the chapters in this part to find out more about these types of windows.

# Zooming into the Image Window

When a raster image is displayed, you see the image as a whole image with all the areas that Photoshop wants to see filled with color. With a JPEG image, for example, a gray background is a blank canvas.

Photoshop enables you to zoom in to a specific area, such as the left side of the image or the top right. To zoom out, you click the Zoom icon, shown in the margin, in the toolbox. The Zoom dialog box, which has settings for the amount of zoom, is shown in Figure 1-4. Click the Scale box to change the size of the enlarged image. For example, if you zoom in, you can make the image 640 pixels (approximately 3 inches) wide. The image enlarges proportionally, so if you zoom in on a 16-inch image, it’s 15 inches wide.

**Figure 1-4:** The Zoom dialog box enables you to customize the zoom magnification.

As you zoom in, you see the image change. In the example in Figure 1-4, you can see that it now covers about 3 inches of the image area. You’ll notice two circles that appear at the bottom of the dialog box. These circles show the minimum and maximum zoom amount.

The thumbnails shown in the thumbnails area are the pixels that make up the area in the center of the image area. As you zoom in, you see the area expand until it covers that whole area. At this point, there is no cropping

certificate. “This is the
first time I’ve actually been able
to do this and be with the boys,”
said Lori.
This was Lori’s last half-
marathon for an entire year.
During her recovery Lori turned her
energy to a local Special Olympics team
from which she hosted several basketball
tournaments and fashion shows.
In November Lori will be running the
final ten miles of her marathon training
and will be completing a 50 mile
ultramarathon the following day. “The
CrossFit-45-mile series is right on schedule,” said Lori.
“I would not be training in the off-season
if I weren’t able to be so busy. There
is no sign of the winter here. Being
able to do the CrossFit-45 series every
fall and winter and then in the summer
for the run has really helped my speed.
Last year I was able to do it but I had
to have the two days off in the middle
of the week and I was also bedridden. I
wanted to have a very specific time
schedule that I could follow to be on
schedule. It’s not that I want to do 45
miles in 45 days, but 45 miles in a
weekend is great for training and I
have been impressed with the results.”
Lori is preparing for the 50 miles of
the AGR Trail Ultra-Marathon. “This
is my first ultramarathon so I am
grateful for the opportunity to go out
with this new training. It is all a
learning experience.”
Lori will be raising awareness for
Lupus and chronic fatigue syndrome
(CFS). The race will take place in
Chico on November 21.

What’s New In?

How do you find out what the IDLE is set to?

On my Windows 7 machine, if I open Windows Explorer (not through the start menu), select Go, and type “C:\Python26”, a window comes up for “Open Documents and Folders” with a location in the list that says “None, IDLE, IDLE Classic”. How do I find out what the “IDLE” setting is?

I’ve just updated a post I made to discuss this a while ago.
The thing is, Windows 7 by default makes applications show up in a list. Selecting that list will make it not show up in the list anymore. The normal way to make it show up is by clicking the right mouse button on that list and choosing Open location.
If you don’t want the application to show up anywhere in that list, you can use it like this:

Open the Start menu

Type about:config
Click in the search box

Find the setting that says show_applications_in_start_menu

Right click on the value of the setting and choose change

Enter false and OK

You should be back at the default behavior.

How to tell which type of program is loading?

I’m trying to learn Python, and I’m experimenting with several development environments, such as IDLE, VIM, Numpad, and Sublime Text.
Is there any way to tell, from the command line, which type of program is loading, so I can use the information to learn more about it?
For example, what command will tell me what type of program I’m using to program?

The application can give you a hint:
$ bash
$ python
Python 3.4.2 (v3.4.2:9b73f1c3e601, Feb 23 2015, 20:51:43) [MSC v.1600 32 bit (Intel)] on win32
Type “help”, “copyright”, “credits” or “license” for more information.

But there is more than one way to do it:
$ pwd
$ type -a python
python is /usr/bin/python3.4
/bin/python is /usr/bin/python

System Requirements:

Requires a Pentium 3 or later processor (recommended for speed)
Minimum 640Mb of RAM (recommended 1Gb)
30Mb of available hard-disk space
Requires the Microsoft.NET framework version 2.0 (Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003)
Requires a minimum of 1.2Mb DirectX 9 compatible video card (recommended 1.4Mb)
The application works on any Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 system, however, you may not be able to take
