The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (English)The Man From U.N.C.L.E. represents the first of the James Bond series of films. Starting in the mid-1960s and ending in the 1970s, the Man from U.N.C.L.E. featured a “Bond-like” secret agent named K, who fights a worldwide battle against a terrorist organization. Like his predecessors, he travels the world in a Bentley automobile and occasionally uses a violin bow as a weapon. The series saw a total of nine feature film installments, and a television series in 1975. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. was a box office success, grossing nearly $180 million and bringing critical praise. The series was created by Kevin McClory, best known for the novel the Thirteen Ballots (1956) and the film The Magnificent Seven (1960). The series consisted of a total of nine feature film installments, as well as a television series, which premiered on American television in 1975. The television series was produced by MGM Television and feature films were produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Taurus Productions, and MGM. David McCallum was the series’ creator and writer. The series was produced in England and was predominantly based on McCallum’s stories, but also was based on material from various other sources. James Bond, who began his appearance in the first film of the series, was the inspiration for K. He was created by the British Bond author Ian Fleming. The Man from U.N.C.L.E.’s series adversaries were the International Secret Service (frequently referred to simply as I.S.S.). The organization was created by David Whitaker, who served as series executive producer and McCallum as series writer.
